Ventured North a few weeks back, as it looked like we were going to have the first patch of cloud around sunset for nearly 2 months !!… I thought I was in for a superb light show but instead, I set up
my gear and set the tripod down at the waters edge and excitedly turned to select a suitable filter only to hear a ‘Plop’ sound…!!! you guessed it…. the camera was sat lens down in the gentle incoming water……Aaarrghh.. !!!!

Needless to say, after the initial panic and frantic checking and cleaning, I was not in the mood to stay long. Far more worried about the camera than the moment… but did get one little gem..!!

Thankfully, there doesn’t appear to be any real damage after stripping and rebuilding my Lee frame, which took most of the sandy impact.

Taken at Yanchep’s southern Beach, WA.

About Jonathan Stacey

Appreciating and capturing light is the cornerstone to my photography. combine this with the beauty of our Western Australian beaches and rocky coastline and you have something that should be both witnessed, captured and shared.

I hope I can inspire you to take the time to see a sunrise or sunset, on a coast or a rocky outcrop somewhere, and then maybe you can understand why for me, Photography has become a passion……

I knew this was yours as soon as I saw it, Jonathan… superb. What a beatiful image. Glad to hear your camera’s okay too :)
(Is Yanchep considered a ‘suburb’ of Perth? It’s kind of rural, isn’t it?)

  • Hhmm !!. Good point Mieke…Better change that !! Not really part of Perth at all, and most definitely NOT a suburb of I guess !!… And thanks for the kind words..:))

Hmmmmm, I know the patience and timing needed to get that flow over the rock with the wave in the right place also…. Very nice work JS- and a magnificent sky to go with it!

  • Thanks Jimmy… Camera cleaned up pretty wall also, although I can’t seem to shift the salty white swirls left all over the sigma !!… the velvety finish doesn’t help either !!

  • I think you might be right Ang !!… perhaps I need to slow down just a little !! not rush around all the time !
