After spending the last month in what I would consider Hell’s own back yard, Port Hedland to be specific, in the Pilbarra region of northern WA (my appologies for those who either live or love it up there !), for me it was just stinking hot, muggy, dusty, smelly, windy and baron, but then again, it does generate most of Australia’s wealth so I guess it certainly serves a purpose !!.
I only had a few short minutes to capture Port Hedland’s rugged landscape, most of which depict death or stages there-of…so not sure if I really want to post here on happy RB so for now, I’ll rejoin RB after far too long an absence with one of the few, pleasing to the eye type shots of this intriguing place….

This is really lovely the trees starkness leaning uptowards the sky is wonderful. Here my ground is white and a hard frost.
Thank you Karen, it did have a stark beauty about it and the iron rich ground was as hard as your frost soil too !!!.

at least it was cloudy :) The pindan is intense!
there is plenty of diverse life there, I expect it was avoiding the heat, and the flora really only put on a “show” seasonally. I admit we bypassed Port Hedland on our journey North, but the Pilbara is truly a unique landscape, with its own colour scheme.
It has certainly given me the desire to explore the pilbara and karijini region in much more detail that’s for sure, however you were wise to bypass Hedland I think !!…Thanks Naia
