Inception : An event that is a beginning; a first part or stage of subsequent events:

I thought this a fitting title for the next series of captures from me..!!.

Increasingly particular about when and where I photograph and increasingly critical about my work, I’m finding photography is like a prize…most definitely an addiction and almost a reward for the work that I do…

If I finish on time, if the work is all done and the loose ends are tied tightly then, and only then am I in the right mindset, only then can I take the time to enjoy what I see and feel.

Journeyed to the South West Corner of Western Australia again this weekend…for work this time but never the less I was there…where it all began for me and where I feel most drawn.

No glorious sunsets, no brilliant dawns, just rain, thick cloud, strong winds and wild seas…..

At first I was not sure how to tackle the conditions…but once you’re there, standing on those rocks feeling the rush of sea air on your skin coupled with salty spray on you lips……it all just works…

It wasn’t very long before I was skipping like a school girl (I kid you not !!)..slipping and sliding my way through the rock pools and dodging the swell….a few worth keeping but alas most…speckled with sea spray or blurred from lifting the camera high as the waves crashed in…..

Just what the doctor ordered though for a thoroughly enjoyable end to the week….

I wonder how many of you recognised this as one of mine !!!!!…is it that obvious !!

Appreciating and capturing light is the cornerstone to my photography. combine this with the beauty of our Western Australian beaches and rocky coastline and you have something that should be both witnessed, captured and shared.

I hope I can inspire you to take the time to see a sunrise or sunset, on a coast or a rocky outcrop somewhere, and then maybe you can understand why for me, Photography has become a passion……

Really looking forward to this series Jonathan. Love the gorgeous tones- that mix of green and blue, and the rush of the tide….my favorite bit of it all I have to admit is- _skipping like a school girl _ … so relate to this.

  • Lol..!!..so it’s not just me then !!, isn’t it such a great feeling when you click that shutter..look at the back screen and as the image appears..you just yell..YES !!!..and start skipping !!!…seems pretty normal to me !!…:))…not sure the fishermen standing close by understood !!…oh well !!

Well mate it’s not the trademark 3:1 Stacey crop but the comp and treatment does provide a clue as to origin ;-) Very nicely executed and trust me I stay and shoot when most of my photographer bretheren are scrambling to get their gear back to shelter madly wiping lenses and bodies as they run- my preffered conditions, yes I am probably MAD ;-p looking forward to the next instalment in the series!

  • Ha..!!, I forgot about that Jimmie…Well the next few coming up are so I’ll be true to myself !!..Thanks mate….:)
