On reflection, the ocean, for me is both an endless source of photo ops and an important part of me…. a place where I can be at piece at the end of the day, a place I can reflect on what’s happened in the past and maybe figure out what I should have said or done differently, or maybe just sit and watch.
Today was one of those days when all I needed was the ocean… to watch the waves gently lap around the rocks for the sun to fill the sky with wonder as she does at the end of every day….It put everything into perspective…well….almost everything anyway.
I was going to rave about my new purchase…the Hitech reverse ND grad…but I think this image just shows that in my view, this is by far the best filter I now own….but somehow describing how I felt whilst standing staring at this scene seems more important to me…..

Appreciating and capturing light is the cornerstone to my photography. combine this with the beauty of our Western Australian beaches and rocky coastline and you have something that should be both witnessed, captured and shared.
I hope I can inspire you to take the time to see a sunrise or sunset, on a coast or a rocky outcrop somewhere, and then maybe you can understand why for me, Photography has become a passion……

A beautiful capture Jonathan. It seems an ND grad filter is a must have. Will have to look into getting one. This is awesome.
Haha..Thanks Elaine, it just balances the sky with the darker earth…or water…They aren’t the answer to all exposure issues but they certainly help..

Superb image Jonathan. Love the way the rock in the foreground mirrors the lines in the clouds.

I just love the definition of the colour in the clouds – fantastic. I can imagine sitting here and not wanting to move. Whenever I go to the beach I have a plan, set up – paddling is a must, then get some photo’s and shoot off. Haven’t quite done that yet because I always just sit till it’s so dark I have a hard time finding my way back up the bank. The ocean has an endless sense of peace, of putting everything in perspective :-)
Thanks Kym and so very very true !!..:))
