There were just endless spectacular scenes here at Redgate Beach just outside Margaret River in the Cape Naturalist National Park, South West Western Australia, I could come here every night for a year and still not capture everything. It really is such an amazing place…..apart from the flies !

Appreciating and capturing light is the cornerstone to my photography. combine this with the beauty of our Western Australian beaches and rocky coastline and you have something that should be both witnessed, captured and shared.

I hope I can inspire you to take the time to see a sunrise or sunset, on a coast or a rocky outcrop somewhere, and then maybe you can understand why for me, Photography has become a passion……

This is just awesome Jono! Great timing and perfect exposure length, I must say I like the contrast in this shot quite alot, sometimes some of your others seem a little pale. Awesome!

  • Thanks Jason, you know probably the biggest issue for me is understanding the difference between a good computer image and a good “Printing Image”. After many bad attempts I now process to print which means less contrast and more brightness, I now have a calibrated monitor which is all wonderful but you are perfectly correct when you say that a lot of the time, on a monitor…it looks washed out or pale..!! in fact I’ve already changed this upload for a lighter version but just to prove a point, I will reload the more moody higher contrast one….give me a minute !!

Simply love Margaret River! A beautiful place and you are right when you say you couldn’t capture everything. The beach can change from dawn to dusk and from one day to the next. A beautiful capture of a very lovely place.:-)

  • Spot on.!!.there really is something about that region that captivates, Thanks for comment..:)

Wonderful love the colour and the water as always. Love the sun light coming across the sea.
May I ask with the sigma lens do you have to manual focus or can you use it on auto. Just i keep thinking about eventually getting on but not sure my skill with my camera upto it yet.

  • Hi Karen and thanks for the supportive comment as always ;) in answer to your query..the sigma is auto focus..yes. The only time it struggles as with any lens is in very low light or when you’re forcing low light with use of filters, then it’s back to good ol’ manual again or the D90 won’t take the shot so for the most, I can only say great things about the 10-20mm, just transforms every image into a perspective wonder, GET ONE !!!!!! you won’t regret it if you love landscapes !!..:))

    every moment
    the very moment
can’t catch them all, and you have chosen well, and that is the essence of “taking” a photo.
the dramatic scene seen, well done!

  • very poignant Naia and so very true…thank you :)
