Two Hummingbirds on a wire are looking to each other. Photo made on April 10, 2009 in the backyard of our home at Indio, California, USA

Hummingbirds are birds in the family Trochilidae, and are native to the Americas. They can hover in mid-air by rapidly flapping their wings 12–90 times per second (depending on the species). They can fly backwards, and are the only group of birds able to do so. Their English name derives from the characteristic hum made by their rapid wing beats. They can fly at speeds exceeding 15 m/s (54 km/h; 34 mph)

Amazing! VERY GREAT PHOTO!I love hummies (my mom calls them that too). I have 1 good photo of a hummingbird perched on a feeder ( I was very excited to show my husband- who with a very serious face said I thought that had noodle-legs and couldnt land on stuff….I still laugh about that to this day

  • Hello Jessica, Thank you so much for the fantastic comment, yeah I love Hummies and I know my first time when I made a picture, waiting a whole day and made lots of photos but so exited when they came out very well!!! Its very difficult to get a good shot and keep laughing its a great memory;)))
    Happy Sunday, Jokus ;-)
