Found this beautiful bug in my garden in the mountains of Mae Hong Son province, and thought it would make a great subject for a bug card challenge.

Beautiful creature, a real work of art. :-)

  • Thanks John, it is a beauty. I am heading into the garden again now to try to find it again, as it’s back side, decorated with pink and white stripes, is worth a few more shots.

John, ta 4 reply! Looking again, I am puzzling over the pink banding on the beetle’s back: is it (a) a natural part of it, (b) reflected light, or © something extraneous attached to it? I can’t decide, I just know it looks extraordinary!

  • It is natural, and when I noticed it in the computer I rushed back to get some sharper shots of its backside but it had gone….
