Yangshou karst, China by John Spies

Yangshou karst, China by

Some of the world’s most spectacular scenery can be found near the Li River town of Yangshou in southern China. Sheer limestone karst towers and grags rise between rice paddy fields and quaint villages. At the start of the wet season, mist lingers around the outcrops while brilliant green young rice carpets the valley floor. This photograph was taken in 1982, not long after the upheavals of Chairman Mao’s Cultural Revolution, when paddy fields became communal property. Nikon FM2 camera and 28mm nikkor lense, kodachrome slide film. The original slide was scanned at 3600 dpi and the dirt and mould removed as well as possible in photoshop with the image enlarged at 200%.

I love old cameras i still use them once in awhile.
mine are pentex spotamatic,mv1 and Me Supra.

  • Wow, an honour, thanks Nancy. I love this group and the idea behind it. Film does have a special quality about it, but digital is just so easy that it now requires a bit of effort for me to use my old cameras.
