The setting for the movie The Beach, this idyllic bay on Phi Phi island can be packed with tourists and speedboats during the day in the dry season, but a small trail leads uphill from the beach, and there I met no-one.
lovely John I visited it a couple years ago and want to return to that area again we go in “off-season” to avoid the crowds and put up with monsoons sometimes
The whole Andaman coastline from Phuket to Malaysia is very beautiful, and there are plenty of places like this that are a lot less famous and popular. I visit every few years or so…the first time i slept on the beach in Phuket, because there were no bungalows at all, but that was a very long time ago…
Great shot John, sorry the movie overwhelmed this beautiful place with so many tourists. THE BEACH is a favorite movie of mine not just because it was a fine production with fine actors but because it reminded me of TAYLOR CAMP (sans Sharks) and the idyllic Hippie lifestyle of the 60s / 70s on Kauai’s Na Pali Coast. I have enjoyed your entire gallery of very interesting photography and thanks for visiting and commenting on my KALALAU VALLEY.
Thanks Kevin, would love to visit Hawaii some day. The Beach was an under-rated movie, well directed and the beach scenes were stunning. The place is still amazing, even after the movie and tsunami, but best in the early morning if possible.

The half submerged limestone towers in the Adaman sea make this area very special, thanks Shelly

Fabulous..yes my neices favourite spot in the world.. she talked about this place..wow it’s gorgeous!
and was it affected by a tsunami..?
The Phi Phi Island group was affected and many lives lost but this spot has no people so it survived with little damage.
