Hmong maidens by

Unmarried Hmong girls at Hmong New Year wear their finest hand-embroidered clothes and silver jewelry. Similarly lavishly attired young men flirt with and court the girls as they play traditional New Year games. These girls live in a Hmong village near Pai in Mae Hong Son Province Thailand.

I am so pleased to see these girls in their magnificent clothing in their natural setting. So many photos like these are spoilt by backgrounds that are just blacked out—my personal opinion only of course. Thank you John.

  • I missed this comment, Thanks again Dusker, I know what you mean with the ‘studio’ look and background, instead of what is really there, and i agree, i prefer reality.

John, your photo documentary on Thailand, its people and culture is simply outstanding. Awesome indeed and quite an experience for someone (like me) who has never visited this beautiful country. Perhaps, one day.

  • Come on over, its just a plane flight…thanks for all of your comments and support.
