While hiding on an outcrop photographing ducks flying by, a pair of swans suddenly came into view swimming out of an inlet to a smaller pond. As soon as they saw me they let out a high pitched startled squawk and took flight. I had taken them for the acclimated resident Trumpeter Swans and was surprised at their reaction. Later, when I was processing the photos, I realized they were migrating Tundra Swans, very much unused to humans. Notice the yellow spot on a narrower bill.
