The badly scared remnant farmlands resulting from over use of a fragile landscape; as seen on the road to Wilpena Pound in South Australia.
This country was opened up for farming during a few good seasons over 100 years ago and the farmers hopes were quickly turned to dust when the climate returned to its long term characteristic cf very low rainfall and long periods of drought. It has never recovered – but the sky sure is photogenic..
