Mozart - A Post Modern Slant

He longed to express himself
Through a higher art
And took as his mentor
The dead Mozart

Then fashioned a mask
From cardboard and paste
And tied bits of string
To his master’s face

And set about composing
In his lonely room
A concerto for kazoo
Fork and spoon

Committing to paper
In coloured crayon
Throughout the night
He wrote on and on

He labored away
A new manuscript
Multi layered and coloured
In crayola writ

And he fashioned his opus
In his lonely room
Destined for great halls
On Sunday afternoons

With his magnum opus
Thought-out and writ
He sought kazoo spoon and fork players
To interpret it

And the musicians came
From near and far
These outsiders of art
The fashionably bizarre

With four (inc. Mozart) too many
To fit in his room
They sought more salubrious surrounds
For the debut

The critics
Were post modern
As is their wont
And heaped high cultural praise

Upon the masked savant

And so a new concerto
Entered the canons of high art
For kazoo fork and spoon
By Wolfgang Mozart
