Caught My Eye - Part 4
This time I’ve looked around RB for images that have caught my eye, and this one covers HDR.
I should say straight up, HDR isn’t everyone’s “cup of tea” and that’s fair enough. This thought stems from what people see as over doing the process to seeing too many using the process.
Then there are the purists who insist HDR must be three separate images or more, not creating extra ones in a program like photoshop. For those that want to pursue that debate, feel free to do so, on the forum though, as this is just an exercise on what has caught my eye
Please Enjoy.
First up is Dave Warren. Dave has numerous shots in his PF that are of a HDR nature and one worth looking over if you want inspired. I particularly like Sunrise Over Inquisitive Eyes and not because it has that natural feel about it, but because of areas that HDR has brought out.
Sunrise Over Inquisitive Eyes

Shane Smart is another who dabbles in HDR, and does a mighty fine job too I might add. Spend some time checking out his work. I love the surreal feel of his work “Transcendent” to me it has a feeling of being “visited” from another planet. I’m sure that’s not the intention but it’s how I look upon it.
Transcendent

Ben Pacificar is a prolific “HDRer” bringing the dirty, grungy and cast off things back to life. You’ll need a cup of coffee if you are going to spend time going through his extensive PF
Overhaul

Heather Hartkamp is another who loves the side of “tone mapping” her photos and expertly done too. Interiors, exteriors, landscapes all get the HDR attention.
The Staircase

This edition of Caught My Eye threw up so many wonderful artists who display excellent HDR work and there are probably 100’s more that I haven’t even discovered yet, but here are a few more to check out.
Bartek Kuzia
Sylvia Hardy
Jason Connolly
Kimberly Palmer
Hans Kawitzki
if you come across any you think are outstanding, pop the links in the comments for others to follow
p.s. and no linking to your own stuff :)
EarthGipsy
All excellent images John, Greaet idea you have going by the way :)
John Conway replied
thanks EarthGipsy, fantastic work by these RB artists that need to be noticed :)
SD Smart
Thanks for the feature John – a nice surprise.
HDR gets a bad wrap at times because it easy to over-do (and often is).
My favourite HDR’s show scenes that could not have been captured in the same way with a single exposure but use the technique to be very photo-realistic.
Here’s one of my favourites by Philip Johnson

John Conway replied
totally agree Shane with your thoughts on HDR.
Great example you’ve shown, Phillip produces excellent HDR, I feel bad leaving him out of my list, but pleased you brought it up.
Louise Cooke
great choices John…really enjoyed a look through these…RB is so big, it’s impossible to keep track of all the wonderful work..so nice when some is handed to you on a plate!
John Conway replied
thanks Louise
I also like to check what my friends are favouring – nice little gems there too

Nice to see HDR feature on the home page, and couple of artists that are listed here :)
Jesse Blyth
HDR is good, but I’m not really into it, maybe cause I have to learn how to do it just yet, well once I start uploading HDR’s then I’ll start viewing images on RB.
