The canyon is accessible only by guided tour, lead by Navajo (the land is owned by the Navajo). The tours require reservations, best made in advance, and it can get crowded. The guides do a marvelous job of keeping the groups separated with only one group per gallery at a time.
The stories the guides tell of the land, the discovery of the place… are as interesting as the place itself.
Flash floods have been known to occur here, so it is best to avoid monsoon season, and stay with your guide at all times.
A tripod, plenty of battery power (backups!), and a wide zoom are a must here.
John, a great photo, I think I saw a similar shot from you recently. The flow and pattern of Mother Earth is incredible, and your compositon brings it out beautifully!
Thank you very Cora. Yes, I brought home a couple of “keepers” from Antelope Canyon. It really is a stunning place to see.
Ooooh, Antelope Canyon gets me every time. I’m going to have to make that trip someday. Lovely flow and texture. Like standing at the bottom of a beautiful well.
Thank you Lynda. I think it is one of the most beautiful and amazing places I’ve ever been, I am glad I was able to go.
I see you too have been into this amazing place. Did you have sand falling on you too? What a hazard -This is a great image & I can appreciate what you did to get it!
Thank you. No, I didn’t see any sand falling like this. You were in the upper canyon?
