Sunset at the Chilkat River, Alaska by John Wright

Sunset at the Chilkat River, Alaska by

November, years ago, near sunset at the Chilkat River, where around 3000 bald eagles congregate to feast on a late salmon run. It was a slow year when I went; there were only about 600 eagles.

The sun came up at 10am and went down around 2:30, and did a little arc in the southern sky when we could see it at all.

It was a great trip and I’d love to go back now that I have more skill and better gear.
