  • Renee Dawson

    Renee Dawson

This is FABULOUS John. ohhhhhhhh I see you have the f/2.8 70-200mm. I have the f/4 – it’s a fabulous lens, but it would be that much better if I had this one instead!

  • John Wright replied

    Thank you very much Renee.

In general, I don’t need the f/2.8, and wouldn’t mind having the lighter weight of the f/4 version. Everything I’ve read says the f/4 is a sharper lens too… but I have no complaints… for any zoom to be better than mine is simply amazing.

  • gerfoy3

    gerfoy3

No I’m serious…mail me if u want but I’ll b stalking u. Was it layers of colours either sheets for bounce or gels? I was thinking of doing that its close to how I pictured it in my mind but I thought there would be more defined seperation of the different colours

  • John Wright replied

I sent you mail but, in a nutshell, the background was strips of colored paper. Still a single flash unit, off camera, close to the paper. Same layout as the strobist blog you sent me, I only varied the background.

  • gerfoy3

    gerfoy3

As I thought…..Funny how the colours mixed isn’t?

This is an incredible image John, very cleverly done (wish I knew how!!!) Congratulations on the challenge win and feature, well deserved!

  • John Wright replied

Thank you very much Martin. It’s surprisingly simple. The basic idea is here… http://strobist.blogspot.com/2009/05/how-to-photograph-water-drops-with-one.html. I don’t have a usable manual flash so I just use TTL.
