Juvenile Harris Hawk
Juvenile Harris Hawk courtesy of the Raptor Conservancy of Virginia.
These birds range from the desert southwest of the United States down to Chile and Argentina. They are very fast and highly maneuverable. Rabbits, even given a substantial headstart, are not likely to escape.
One of the most interesting facts about these birds is they are among the only raptors to hunt in groups. In such a group, they have been known to take down jackrabbits… however jackrabbits have also been known to kill the hawks.
Canon 50D, Canon 300mm f/4L, Gitzo 3530 tripod with Kirk BH-1 ballhead, flash.
Juvenile Harris Hawk belongs to the following groups:
Animal Portraits, Birds and Creatures of Flight, Birds Of Prey (3 per day), Canon DSLR (One Image Per Day & A Canon Camera Must Be In The Description Before It's Accepted), High Quality Animal Images - 1 Submission a Week and The Birds Available for sale asGreeting Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints and Framed Prints
