I really liked the other shot of this falcon, but I think I like this one even better. The lighting is slightly better and you’ve gotten such sharp focus at his eye…very well done, John.

It’s very, very slight and has more to do with the way he’s facing…the white feathers at his throat have more detail in this shot than the other and I thought it might be the direction of the light that did it, but I could be wrong. But, yes, this is very sharp and that might be the difference…either way, it doesn’t matter…it’s a really great shot! :)

We live near the Air Force Academy in Colorado. Their mascot is the Falcon. This is a beautiful photograph of one of these birds. Great resolution…

HI Michael, thank you. Sure, I used a Canon 20D, 70-200 f/2.8 L, a Gitzo 3530 tripod and Kirk BH-1 ballhead. I think the tripod and head is the most important part of that mix.
