Cumbrian Mountain Express hauled by a Stanier "Black Five" by

Cumbrian Mountain Express hauled by a Stanier “Black Five” topping the grade at Bryn station, near Wigan, The “Black 5” was introduced in 1934 and was so successful that it continued to be built until 1951.
The “Black 5” locomotive was one of the most successful and popular steam locomotives ever developed and was a real “Jack of all Trades” being equally at home hauling passenger or freight trains.
Please note that this locomotive was NOT in green livery it is the foliage reflecting on the shiny, wet, paintwork.

I bought my first camera in the Isle of Man when I was 8 years old and have loved photography ever since. The sixties were my teenage years and, though I took a wide range of subjects, steam trains were my favourite topic.
I took my first wedding when I was 14 and though the couple loved the album I produced, I have to admit it was not my best work! Although I have worked professionally as a photographer I have never lost the enjoyment I get from taking pictures.
