Such Is The Way

A blade stabbed deep into the snow,
Near vanquished hero’s hand, His foe
absent life’s tender glow:
Such is the way I love.

Once gleaming tower, impervious hill,
Whose parapets fly banners still,
Yet lies in crumbling ruin:
Such is the way I love.

A phantom isle in tumultuous seas,
A paradise thawed from winter freeze,
from her sinking ship is seen:
Such is the way I love.

A firefly gleaming through the night,
Humbled by the new day’s light,
As such is the firefly’s life:
Such is the way I love.
