John Littell

Amongst other things, I count myself as a computer engineer, photographer, and fiddler. I am drawn to the quiet spaces that I see first with my heart and only then through the lens of my camera. Photography is a contemplative activity for me, from start to end. My family has learned to wait for me as I find an image amongst the trees and rocks, and I find another peace as I process the pictures and see them at the end.

My first love has always been black and white photographs. I started with 35mm and medium format film that I developed in my basement darkroom. Since moving to digital, I have still gravitated to black and white, although I have also explored the range of color that is now easy for me to access.
