Shot of Boston City Hall and 28 State Street Tower taken from Government Center plaza in downtown Boston, Massachusetts. The buildings are reflected in a large pool of standing rainwater left over from a rainstorm earlier in the day. Boston City Hall is the home of the municipal government of Boston, Massachusetts. City Hall is a 9-level, horizontally-oriented brutalist building designed by Kallmann McKinnell & Knowles and located at the heart of a brick-paved Government Center plaza in downtown Boston, Massachusetts. It is rectangular in plan, but is an inverted pyramid in elevation. The masterplan for Government Center was designed by IM Pei. 28 State Street is a modern skyscraper in the Government Center neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. Built in 1970, it is Boston\’s 16th-tallest building, standing 500 feet (152 m) tall, and housing 40 floors.The building has a rectangular footprint which is then setback once near the top floor. The tower does not have a crown and in fact has a flattened roof. It was designed by Emery Roth & Sons and Edward Larrabee Barnes Associates.
