Image taken today, in my backgarden, where a large, naturally seeded, Goat Willow tree (Salix caprea), has been growing for several years. It is supposed to be a deciduous shrub, but, in my garden, it has grown into quite a large tree! These katkins were at the top and so quite difficult to capture on this sunny but windy spring day. I ended up pulling a back muscle trying to get a sharp image with good illumination. An occupational hazard sometimes, for photographers!

Image captured with a tripod-mounted Canon 1Ds Mk1 fitted with a Canon EF 70 – 200mm 1:2.8 IS USM L series Lens. (IS turned off for this capture)

Thanks very much for your comment Elyse, I’ve been trying to get a good capture of these catkins for some time, but the window of opportunity is quite small!
