This location is in Algonquin Park at my favorite campground, called Achray. This is one of the more remote sites, the only one that permits camping at a home base and tripping out into the park. It’s a great place to canoe and paint.
Starting on a red oxide and raw sienna base wash, the overpaint was applied impasto, allowing the hot base to peak through. This is to emulate the way I like to work on location when doing thumbnails on raw wood panel.
