The week that never was....
I’ve been away from the bubble for two weeks but not for the reasons I had planned. I had planned a week away in Norfolk but it never happened. The cottage was paid for but we could not go.
As some of you know my mother-in-law has been having treatment for brain tumours (surgery followed by five and a half weeks of radiotherapy). She was doing well until she had a fall in the middle of the night a couple of weeks ago and her health declined rapidly after the fall. It took 11 days of constant battling with NHS doctors before we finally got one to agree that she needed to be in hospital.
By the time they admitted her she was so dehydrated that they had problems inserting a cannula for the drip and we were told to prepare ourselves for the worst. Amazingly, after strong doses of steroids, she rallied round after a few days and is soon to be discharged. She’s a tough old bird!
The main thing is she’s doing well at the moment and there’s always next year for Norfolk.

I’m sorry to hear about both your M-i-L and your loss of holiday, John. I hope her health continues to improve and that you get your holiday later. The elderly can surprise us with their toughness!
John Edwards replied
Thanks Jan.
The holiday isn’t important as I’d have only eaten too much and drunk too much wine anyway (and I can always do that at home). :)

Good news about the mother in law John, may she continue to progress, Norfolk will still be here waiting for you next year. We have booked a holiday in North Wales in 2 weeks, but for family reasons we are having to cancel, at least I can enjoy Norfolk, I will say hello for you!
John Edwards replied
Thanks George. I was looking forward to eating at The Lodge in Old Hunstanton but it’ll have to wait until next year now.
Sorry to hear you’ll miss your holiday as well.
George Swann
The Ancient Mariner at Old Hunstanton is well worth a visit, lovely grub!
John Edwards replied
We did try there George but they would not let our dog in as well so we ate at the lodge where they were more accommodating.

I am so glad she has pulled through , she is like my aunt who is 95 , we keep getting these scares then next thing she is as right as rain.
Very best wishes to her.

Your health Sytsem sounds horrific!
Sorry your MIL took a tumble, she does indeed sound like a ‘tough old bird” :D
Pity you missed out on your holiday though…..
John Edwards replied
It’s free but it’s a shambles. Too much bureaucracy. The main problem we had was actually getting a doctor to come out to see her. They wanted to keep diagnosing over the phone! There’s always next year for Norfolk :)

Oh John I’m sorry MIL took a set back – I did notice you missing but we all do that from time to time. I’m pleased she has rallied around, must be made of pretty tough stuff! Our families do come first … holidays will always be there when the time is right!♥ Thinking of you all .
John Edwards replied
Thanks for your thoughts Bev.

Family is so much more important than a holiday that can be taken next year John and you will be blessed for honoring your mother in law first.
John Edwards replied
Thanks Gloria
