this brings back so many memories for me. Lived 9 years in PNG as a kid – Rabual, Madang, Wewak, Lae and finally Mt Hagen – these mudmen remind me of the singsings we went to!! great photo! :)

Yes, these photos bring back memories for me too. I flew for Douglas Airways as a pilot about 20 years ago, and at the various mountainous airstrips, there’d be villagers wearing mud masks as a seemingly normal part of every day life! Great that you’ve preserved images of these enticing traditions. And yes, the people are really gracious hosts, too! !
