Opting Out of Links Leading Away from our Art

If, like me, you are concerned that the hyperlinks at the top of our redbubble pages lead viewers – and potential customers- away from our own art and to a morass of generic redbubble products, perhaps the post by Rick London in the Ideas section of this site The hyperlinks at the top of our profile page and gallery will be of interest to read and perhaps vote for.

As Ricks says in this post, “If you are a creator selling merchandise, put yourself in your visitor’s shoes. The first thing you see are the prominent links at the top of every page and you are 90% likely to click on them.”

As another poster (Candy Gemmill ) says: “Great work on this site but, hey, I want to sell my products not someone else’s.”

Hopefully there will be an “opt o…

The sea was full of stars. A blazing vault of sky collided with its reflection in the dark plain of ocean. Together, they found infinity.

Art of Gold - The Business of Art

Art of Gold The Business of Art

While Ars Gratia Artis Is The Unequivocal Calling For The World’s Creative Types, Ars Gratia Lucri May Be More Accurate In The Business Of Art.

Art has been treasured and collected for as long as it has been in existence. From the first finely carved caveman club to modern-day pharmaceutical pills on a shelf courtesy of Damien Hirst, visual enhancement of our daily lives has always been well appreciated, if not well understood. What has changed dramatically in recent years is the ardent acquisition of art for financial gain above aesthetic pleasure. While that at first seems to be an affront to artists, the reality is that …

'Midnight Gardens' Art Book

The sea was full of stars. A blazing vault of sky collided with its reflection in the dark plain of ocean. Together, they found infinity.

The salty air was intoxicating. He breathed in…out. Somewhere in the distance a clock chimed midnight.

Awareness arose within him, warming his body against the chill of night. From the moment of his birth, he had been journeying towards this point, this very moment.
Now.

Suddenly, without thought or effort, he found himself slipping through the cusp of the crescent moon and falling into another world.

A garden. Full of mysterious sounds and magical shapes and colours. Nearby, the trickle of a fountain.

Dangerous and wild. He felt no fear. The garden had been calling to him all his life, and at last had allowed him in.

You Are Here - Inspiration Award

You Are Here

Berlin Wall – photograph montage

“The Berlin Wall is often held up as an example of the worst of human behaviour toward others. However, the vestiges of this concrete scar on humanity erected to keep people apart today bring us closer together. The remaining fragments of the Wall symbolise the irrepressible desire for people to connect with others even when confronted with seemingly insurmountable obstacles. We are all right here, right now – it may sound cliché, but there is no better time or place to do some good for our world.”
(words- John Douglas)

I am pleased to share with my fellow bubbleheads that my photograph You Are Here has been selected from amongst 500 artists across 30 countries for an Inspiration Award in the Make Peace campaign in the …

Cut Off Titles on Cards

I bought some cards on RB recently, some of these had longer titles. Disappointing to see once they arrived that those titles were cut off on the back of the cards, some mid-word. The images looked great, but the cut off titles spoilt the cards.
In contacting the very kind folk at RB support I have been told that there is now a character limit on titles – 34 – 40, 34 characters to play it safe.
They suggested I post an entry to the new ideas forum which I have here:
Please allow full titles of artwork to be printed on cards-
I suggest that the older template which allows for full titles be reinstated, or at the least that everyone who posts artworks should be made aware of the character limit on titles.
So keep ’em short!
