John – this one has me stumped. It’s brilliant work, very powerful… then you say it’s a self portrait… but you are happy. Mmmmm what to say, I’ll have to come back to that.

John Douglas dude that must really sting put some tcp or something on it.
Really its good and all but dude again poor old you how did it happen and the referencing Manegna and all that St Sebastian iconism what’s happening tells use about it let it out for your own mental health, dude I am shocked not by the picture well just a bit but dude again ouch! was it an accident with a low flying hedge trimmer or something really this is tortured stuff and SnapHappy I am surprised by your comments can you not see this man is in turmoil and Herkissable, no need to remind this poor soul about his dilemma really, finally keep up the good work and we have a expression in Scotland that might help in this type of situation keep your pecker up oh on second thoughts skratch that oh I see you already have.

the thing I love most about this work is you just put it out there, without any kind of rationalisation, and sit back and watch the reactions. And with such powerful reactions, the work is very successful.

still bleeding – happily. Thanks for all these commetns, much appreciated, not sure if they’re making my grin or the overdose of anti-depressants.

This has to be on of the best self portraits I have come across. So original and mysterious. It leaves the viewer to interpret the image however they like, and I’m sure we all have very different interpretations of this image…which in a way, exposes our own weaknesses and insecurities, and so the portrait becomes personal to the viewer. Amazing. Well done!

  • John Douglas

    John Douglas

Hi Kym, thanks so much! And thanks drjones and antanas, much appreciate the commetns. I try and make art that can interpretted several ways, and in process hope it reveals as much about the viewer 9and their outlook) as my own.
