ooow can i make one suggestion?? crop the right side ever so slightly to make it centre :) ...although ever so slightly off-centre actually looks pretty cool…
John Douglas replied
Thanks Daryl! I actually find centred images a lazy option for composition, to my eye they usually don’t work unless there’s really no other option, and get more of a buzz from off-centred focal points. BUT…I am up t the challlenge of going back and trying for a “daryl eiffel” special :)
Soxy Fleming
Now John I think I could give you some tips on photographing this architectural feature….It should look like this

John Douglas replied
oh yes that is far better – I bow before the mistress of tour eiffel :)

John Douglas replied
shhhhh we wont tell anyone :)
Soxy Fleming
I agree with you about leaving it off centre, in fact I think it could even have been a touch more off centre! but then again maybe you have the placement just right (it’s just that the arc de Triomphe isn’t there!)
John Douglas replied
oh yes and we do love the arc – still I think your photo is the best soxy! That is the sort of photo I wish I had done!
paul romanowski
OK…....SHHHHH….
John Douglas replied
tip toe tip toe….
drjones

oh thanks daryl – I am so thankful for your comments and so glad you’re on here – is for me what this site is good at – support of others, comments and hints on our work, and sharing the love :)
butchart
i’d post my version for you john but it would get censored…......:)
John Douglas replied

The Eiffel Tower photo is impressive. It makes you realise the impact it would have had on people at the Exposition Universelle In 1889.
John Douglas replied
yes indeed – very glad it wasn’t pulled down
