amazing shot. beautiful in so many ways, but I especially like the overlaying of the other photo and the colors that give it the distressed quality like an old statue that has been outside
John Douglas replied
thanks john, that is a wonderful comment I’m thrilled you like the photo
Paul Compton
Is that a projection onto sculptures John. Very clever effect.
John Douglas replied
thanks paul, bit of photoshop layering of three photos, not my usual play but for the subject it seemed to suit.

And yet John, I find it almost as striking as your image that no one inquired as to the identity of the titled individual… perhaps a background would be enriching. I would assume that all here just have a well versed education in the Iliad, were I not well enough versed in life to find the possibility far fetched in the least.
As one of the most relevant figures (at least as far as the gay community should understand it) in literary history, and the one who turned the tides of war with his death, he deserves at least that much. ;) Sorry, I was born with Achilles dreams and pederastic curiosities… oh, that, and after basing my final 40-so page research paper for Myth In Culture in college on the parallels of homosexuality within writings, societal view-point and (most evident in the case of Spartan life) necessities for survival of the time, I’ve written the name more times than I ever really wanted to. I finally got a system down around page 27 for remembering how it is spelled, and…. but now I truly digress (smirk).
What I’m saying in minor-novel form is that the history enriches this work all the more. I’d hate to see it lost on those who can perhaps ween greater admiration for the image were it given. I danced around doing so myself here because it really should come from your mouth as this piece did your vision.
Finally… great work! (smirking again, sincerely)
