Thanks very much Lori! This is a wonderful message to get, am pleased you both like it. The seal here was about 20 metres form the shore so really close to the water still. But yes, the certainly do go on land quite a bit – I walked 20 minutes inland to photogrpah at a penguin rookery and all the while dodging aggressive seals – like a video game at times!

I don’t live there! Way too cold for me – was Sth Georgia Island, one of the peri-Antarctic islands around Antarctcia. Was there for a job, nice to see but also nice to get back to a bit warmer climate later too.

I should say so! Colorado is cold enough. We have/had an Air Force base in Thule, Greenland. It was a feared assingment by everyone. We also have/had a base in Iceland. I just couldn’t have lived there.

Agree very much. I could visit Iceland but not live there – think there’s something about the dperivation of light and clours that just isn’t good for the soul.

no not in the water or near on land when in nbreeding time – but looks very sweet in this pose for sure!
