This year I have undergone destruction and ressurection, but in a slighty new and different form. It was discovered that I have diabetes and an overactive thyroid. Taken together with dodgy Kidneys and Crohn’s Disease, it presented a difficult case for my Consultant Doctor as none of the various medications seemed compatible
Hopefully, things are now O.K. However, I was warned about various side effects, and, more importantly, secondary symptoms that may arise.
My biggest worry was one of sight ( I already have cataracts ), as Diabetes can damage retinal capillaries, severely limiting eyesight. Thankfully a recent scan gave me the all clear, until next year, fingers crossed, when I am due for my next scan
The result of all this is that now I really do feel the cold, and prefer to stay at home, rather than cycling out and about. This has given me more time on the computer to paint in digital form. Colours are purer than watercolour and can be outstandingly vibrant. Techniques and brushstrokes are different. I am learning a lot about a different style which is now spilling over into my watercolour paintings.
So even the bad times are good, when the outcome has such a benificial influence.
