Johdie, this is beautiful work, just keep doing it and enjoying it. Making a living from art is hard work and you just have to persevere. If you love it…..it can happen. Everyone used to tell me that talent alone won’t get you there, unfortunately the best marketeers of themselves get there ahead of the truly creative, gifted people. Just keep creating, you’re self employed and the work is brilliant.

Thanks Sarina, that’s encouraging. I really had plans to keep my art on the side and choose a different career.. but seeing as I haven’t figured out what I want to do yet.. I’m focusing on my art. I have exhibited and sold work which is a great feeling, but not the objective.. I’ll just see where it takes me. So far so good.

This is an amazing image!!! Really well done!! Have you tried a program like Genuine Fractals to see if you could blow the image up more? (OnOne software, Photoshop plug-in, will blow your images up to 8000% larger)

Thanks Derid. No I haven’t tried anything apart from printing and scanning larger.. I hadn’t thought to. Though I don’t have photoshop I’ll still look into it. I’ll hopefully be upgrading soon.

Thanks very much Sienna, that’s very nice of you to say. Stock’s handy but they do have a few rules.. mainly just credit. Sometimes they say they’d like you to ask permission if you use it on other sites.. but they’d never say no.. especially for painters. They’re extra lenient for people who actually make something from scratch with their images.

Brilliant work of art! I love the drama of the lighting. This has so much emotion and intensity! I love the colors you chose for this. It flows so well. I can’t take my eyes off the beautiful ruffles of her dress for long, but then the beautiful play of light and shadow lead my eye up the curves of the cello, then her arms to her intense, lovely face. Excellent work.

Thanks everyone. Lisa, I appreciate the thoughtful comment. I always go for lighting like that.. it really makes pictures. That dress, I never thought I would be able to paint it. I got a little bit impatient and just painted whatever at some points but it still seemed to work okay.
