A powerful message subtly expressed. It lets our imagination fill in the gaps … which gives this image tremendous impact. Great work!

Amaaazing work once again, Johdie.
Even in photography, you’re an outstanding artist. :)
Omitting the head..states a loss of identity..(to me)
and the fact that her man is gone…so is she.
I like this. Powerful

Thank you so much Birgatta for the comments. Especially on this, this is one of my favourites. It’s a rare occasion when I can picture something in my mind and actually express it properly. Really means a lot to have you stop and think about my work. I think that sums it up perfectly; “her man is gone… so is she”.
I really like to make anonymous pieces.. even if people get sick of seeing legs all the time. I feel it makes you look a little deeper. Showing a facial expression seems almost too straight forward and less of a challenge for me.
emapearl
this is devastating, the picture is wonderfully taken, it expresses perfectly.
lynauklet

This is soooo beautiful !! Simple, elegant, timeless. Says much with very little. Can I ask you a question, how do you take self portraits with a timer in terms of focus? How does the camera know where to focus? I’m scared I’ll just end up with loads of blurred images lol…
Johdie Fairwea... replied
Thanks very much. I haven’t quite found the perfect way of doing that.. trial and error for the most part. Sometimes I manage to guess where abouts I’ll be with the manual focus.. or I use props to focus on. This shot worked really well.. I only took a couple. I stood a large frame where I was going to stand and focused on the top of that, where I expected my hand to hang. Not very professional.. but when you’ve only got a metre of room and a desklamp, you do what you can.
Douzy
Thanks johdie, will give it a go…
markhiggins
truly beautiful work.

instant fav. fantastic, i love teh idea of a selfportrait eclusing the most recognisable aspect of ones self.
Johdie Fairwea... replied
Thanks very much. That’s an interesting comment. I feel that if I don’t show my face, I can become anyone. If my face is in the shot.. it’s always just me.

this is a poetic view of tragedy. And I swear i have that exact same carpet. So it resonates with me on several levels. Beautifully composed.
Johdie Fairwea... replied
Haha, I wish there were floorboards in this instead but oh well. Thanks very much.
