On an assignment, I was waiting for my customers to join me in the hall for a group picture, when I turned around to watch some kids from another party playing in the sitting area and saw this old woman watching them as well. She must have been with them, I don’t know for sure, but I found the scene moving, and did not take the time to change my settings wich were ready for indoors photography without a flash, a little farther from the light sources.

Personally, I think you weren’t meant to change your cam’s settings, Johanne, the POF and lighting is exactly as it should be – just my 2c :-))) Ell

  • Thank you Ell! In fact, I would have liked to lower the ISO a bit, but the noise doesn’t bother me that much, so I guess it’s okay after all. :-)

Extraordinary shot Johanne! Where do I begin, the storyline is just phenomenal! The old woman, the children, the chair vs the young man’s mobility, dark chair and the light hair almost aglow like a halo, the window, the contrasts throughout are fantastic, love how the focus is on her in the foreground and yet the youth is blurry!

  • Wow! Joanne you really make my day with this lovely comment! I really could not pass the occasion, and I had the time to make only two shots before she turned around and went away. :-) Thank you so much for your great compliment, my friend!

I think this is a great shot Johanne! Perfect timing! Sometimes spontaneous yields extraordinary results. Did you notice it says free spirit on the back of her chair?
