Week 32 of Project 1/52 (scroll down for more details on the project)
August 25, 2012
I have an old computer to send to our city’s electronics recycling facility, and I decided to play with it before doing so.
After removing the hard disk to destroy it separatly, I sprayed the inside with lighter fluid and set it on fire just to have a new subject to photograph this week! ;-)
For this shot, I placed the open processor outside on a concrete surface. I pulled out my old NIKKOR 18-55mm f3.5-5.6G VR with a CU+1 filter, and set the Nikon D7000 up on a tripod, lens VR off. Focused manually and locked it.
I used pattern metering, and the following settings on manual mode:
Focal length 48mm, ISO-320, 1/40 sec. @ f/5.3, then I dialed in EV-0.7 to compensate for the added light from the flames
After splashing the inside with lighter fuel, I lit it up with a BBQ lighter, and clicked away using my remote.
This is part of a personal project I have undertaken at the beginning of 2012 but which has become a fantastic group project.
One single theme photographed differently every week, for 52 weeks.
Click here to visit the Project 1/52 Facebook group. There are currently 38 members (maybe 20 of them active), each with a different theme and their photo albums are visible to the public. I tell you, there are little gems in there!
My own theme is called “All Fired Up” and consists in photographing flames in any form, ranging from matches, to fire camps and anything in between!
