Glimmer of Hope

Artist's Description

On week 12 of my project, I have decided to experiment with reflexions of flames because it is the theme of the end-of-year expo/competition at my camera club.

Son #1 kindly agreed to serve as a model, once again, and just sat there, staring into the flame, unblinking, while I snapped shot after shot.

Nikon D7000, Nikkor AF 50mm f/1.8D
Focal length 50mm, ISO-400, 1/5 sec. @ f/16
No flash, 3 close-up filter.

Processed in Lightroom 3.

The “Making Of” for this image can be found in my blog. It has been written in French, but the setup images a quite telling.

Project 1/52

This is part of a personal project I have recently undertaken but which has become a fantastic group project.

One single theme photographed differently every week, for 52 weeks.

Click here to visit the Project 1/52 Facebook group. There are currently 44 members, each with a different theme and their photo albums are visible to the public. I tell you, there are little gems in there!

Sorry, but it’s not possible to join anymore… maybe next year!

My own theme is called “All Fired Up” and consists in photographing flames in any form, ranging from matches, to fire camps and anything in between!
