Those two really are a great match!

This is a photo that I made for the third submission of a 52-week special project on the theme of “A flame”. I will be doing one photo per week, every week, with a flame as the main subject. Click here to visit the Project 1/52 Facebook group.

You can read all about the making-of for this photo in my blog for the 1/52 Project. Sorry it’s in French only!

Nikon D7000, Tamron SP AF90mm F/2.8 Di Macro
Focal length 90mm, ISO-100, 1/30 sec. @ f/29

Lit from the side with an old SB-22s (testing something; long story) using a cardboard tube as a snoot. Needed the light to concentrate on the bodies and not the “heads”. I spent a whole box of matches on tests because I had made only one couple of matches people, and I could light them up only once.

One of the most creative shots I’ve seen in a while :-) It’s not only the photography that is impressive (dimming the light on the top to bring out the flames!) but also the craftwork of getting the two figures to stand up by themselves! Not to mention the minimal time between lighting the matches and taking the shot. Superb! :-)
