Fairies celebrating midsummer? Will-o’-the-wisp? Could be… but not this time!

It is only plain old me walking beside a patch of tall grass, and light-painting the edge with a flashlight during the 25-sec. exposure.

I went walking with the dogs in that area an hour before, and stopped for a while to play and watch the fireflies… and I lost my cell phone somewhere in the grass.

When I got back home, I just knew it had to be over there, so I grabbed a flashlight, hubby’s cell phone (to make mine ring so I could locate it), as well as my camera bag and tripod, then walked back to the fireflies’ spot.

I found the phone right away, but stayed there until 1:00 a.m. trying to shoot fireflies. I did not get good results with the tiny beasties, but at least I got this shot out of it!

    Hope you found them!!! LOL

  • Who? The fireflies? They were there alright, but they kept flying away from me to the other end of the field… Plainly, they wanted me to chase after them! LOL!

Nicely done Johanne! It looks like a painting! Have always wanted to try this technique! Going to the cottage in July, may have to experiment then, thanks for the inspiration with this superb capture of light!

  • Thank you Joanne! And we can also see one tiny speck of a firefly!! You have to view larger to find it… :-)
