I had to do a black & white photo with an Orange theme for my photo club tonight. Did not want to shoot bowls, pieces, or slices of oranges, because that’s what the majority will do.
So I decided instead to use the expression Orange Skin meaning (watch out, not for the faint of heart!): cellulite! Arrrgh!
This phenomenon gets more noticeable as we grow older unfortunately, hence the self-portrait of a woman going on 50.
Let me tell you that this was not an easy shot! I made exactly 64 photos in order to get this one, with the oranges carefully positioned at the right height, width and angle! I had to discard all those where my body was not standing straight and where the lighting was wrong.
My cheap Japanese flash died on me in the process, with a sudden burning smell and whisps of smoke… Will have to buy the old SB-22 from my boss until I can afford the SB-700…

Shot in manual mode. Natural light on my body, filtered through a white curtain. Fruit were lit at a 45° angle by my SB-600 at 1/16th power.
