Think, analyze and consider all angles, then take action! When you make a decision, stick to it and don’t look back! Regrets are unproductive and useless!

This is my niece, Jade, who will turn 16 in 4 weeks.

She’s very talented and designed her own tattoo. I don’t think she will ever have to regret it!

Focal length 50mm
Aperture f/1,8
Shutter 1/60 sec.

Nikon D60
Nikkor AF 50mm f/1.8D

Shot in manual mode against a black background. Natural light from a large window, no flash fired, brooder lamp serving as a hair light.

    Lovely montage Jo!!
PS: did I say that I love your lighting!!

  • Thank you Vikram! … and thank you! LOL! I had a hard time with the WB on the colour shots though because half the light (on the face) was coming from the window, and the other half (on the hair and back) from a brooder lamp!

Very well executed idea Johanne. I like your message too. I think I’m one of those people who sometimes sit on the fence for a little too long ;)

  • Thank you Monika! I used to be like that too, but fortunately, I’ve been to improve this aspect a bit. Old habits are hard to kill, but I’m very stubborn, and I’m slowly getting closer to my goal! :-)

Oh wow!! where have you been hiding her? This is SO beautiful, Johanne. Your eye and attention to detail always create intriguing shots. My fav part is her profile…that bit of mystery. Her tatt is lovely too. (Love your message about regrets…I’m living that in spades these days!…Thanks for the tuneup! LOL) Great work!

  • I did not hide her, I swear! LOL!

In fact, we went for a different look in this shooting, by keeping her natural curls, pinning up her hair, and going for a more dramatic eye makeup. Remember the portrait shoot in the train tunnel with all the graffiti? She had straightened her hair then and had a a very natural looking makeup.

Thank you for your great comment, my friend. I’m glad that the words could be of some use, perhaps! :-)
