This is a studio shot of my friend Lisa Bolduc, a young and talented photographer that I met last September at my workplace. We are both attending the same photography school as well, and last week, Lisa has kindly accepted to model for me during a class project on studio portrait.

The title I chose here is something that just popped into my mind when I saw the photo on my computer screen. I must tell you however that it is a world away from Lisa’s personality. She is one of the most humble and down-to-earth young persons that I know.

Lisa has recently opened a RedBubble account, but she has started a new job lately, and has moved to another address, so she has yet to complete her profile and upload some photos.

Focal length 50mm
ISO-100
Aperture f/14
Shutter 1/125 sec.

Shot in a studio using one flash head with a large softbox, plus a hair light and a reflector, on a black seamless background.
Nikon D60
AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f3.5-5.6G VR

Wow….lovely lighting – really nice pose too. Delighted you’re pursuing your passion, Johanne…is this full time? Well done….looking forward to more of your ‘homework’…LOL!!

  • Thank you Wendi! I’m now working full-time, but studying part-time. I have registered in the Portrait program at the same school after Christmas.

Hey you! Nice to see some new work from you young lady! This is great….I really love the composition and the lighting is awesome! Hope you are doing well Johanne…….we badly need to catch up soon :) xxxx

  • Hey you too!!! LOL! This is the only individual project that we made since we started school. The others one we made were nice, and we learned a lot through them, but they were a team effort with very specific guidelines, so I’m not posting them here. Other than that, I had absolutely no time for photography, which is kinda sad…

Fortunately, the rush is almost over at work, and I will have more time to myself really soon. :-)

  • Thank you so much Midzing! The original was a bit underexposed, but I was fortunately able to remedy the situation in Photoshop. :-)

Really clever composition and I like the tone! Great photo shoot!

  • Thank you, Sis! You know, we can rent a studio for half-a-day at a very low price, and practice with both Nikon and Canon equipment! ;-)
