A nice sale!!

Wow!

I would like to extend a very heartfelt thanks to the person who bought 25 cards of my photo “A Cloud for You”. It’s the first time that I sell more than 3 copies of the same item all at once, and I’m very excited!

You certainly made my day!

Won a contest and got published!

One of the photography magazines I buy in French holds a contest for each issue on a particular theme, always a different one.

It’s the Photo Solution magazine, from the same editor as PhotoLife.

Well, I am feeling rather chuffed to have won the April-May contest on “Public Benches” with my photo Endless Rain.

I was sooooo excited and doing the happy dance when they contacted me to get my physical address in order to send my prize, a brand new Epson R2000!

Just got my issue from the newspaper stand yesterday and yes, it’s there alright! LOL!

This is the 1st place winner photo:

I simply had to share!

Cheers,

Johanne

Question on lighting setup

I’m asking this question on behalf of my friend and colleague who also specializes in pet photography.

He called me today to tell me about his shooting of yesterday, which he says was the worst he ever had, a real nightmare.

He has 2-3 sphynx cats to photograph for a woman who breeds them. Fred says that the cats are very agitated and totally crazy.

The woman wants a black background and very even lighting because she will use the photos on her web site and all parts of the cats must be visible and well lit.

One of the has eyes of two different colours, and she wants that too.

My friend was shooting on location in a small room, and could use only his Canon speedlite 580 with a softbox and power pack. The problem is that the cats were moving very fast and because of the black backg…

Please forgive me!

I would like to apologize to all my RB friends and contacts for my lack of interaction and response in the last weeks.

I am terribly short on time with the school photography season that has just begun.

In addition, our house just went up for sale this week and this means there is a marked increase in housekeeping work. We also need to start packing and prepare several crates which are going to a storage facility…

I suspect that I will have a little more time for myself somewhere in November.

Until then, I will drop by for a quick visit, but please do not worry about me if I dont upload, reply or comment too much.

See you all in a few months!

Exhibiting My Work Next Week!

I submitted two entries to a challenge this summer, and while none of my images made it to the top 12 winners (Dazzling Escape did make it to the top 28 of 401 entries though), I was asked to submit a portfolio of 12 images along with several other photographers.

A jury reviewed all those portofolios and identified a few photographers who would win an exhibition space for 6 images at the Salon de la photo artistique Griffe de lumière in Montreal. (Artistic photo exhibition)

Luckily, I was among them, and I will be exhibiting the 6 images they have selected from my 12 submissions.

So if you think you will be in the Montreal area next weekend, I would be really happy to greet you in person at my booth.

Location:
Centre Pierre-Charbonneau
3000 Viau St. (Viau metro station)

Busy Time of Year

Work

The new school year is almost upon us over here in Canada, and with it comes the school photography season. We’re already in high season mode at the studio, with all the preparations and training.

This means that I will be away from the computer quite a bit until the end of November.

Moving

Life on a personal level will turn out to be quite hectic as well, as we have decided to sell the house. There is a lot of work to do (painting, repairs, bit of home staging), but we expect to have it ready for visitors by the second week of September.

So, depending on how fast we sell and the moving date we’ll agree upon, I might have to add some home hunting and packing to an already busy autumn.

I’m telling you all this so you’ll know that if I do not post replies or c

Selling Out My Jewellery Stuff

Before turning to photography, I used to create intricately crocheted designs from very fine wire. My bilingual web site is an example of what I used to do, as a jewellery artist: Un Bijou de Caméléon

I have thought long and hard for several months, and finally came to a decision. I am definitely retiring from the jewellery making business! I am closing shop and selling out my supplies, clearing space for all that photography stuff.

Feeling so good about it!

So if you would like to purchase a one-of-a-kind creation, now is the time, before it’s gone forever!
