The Rogues

Johanne Brunet

The Rogues

It could be the name of a video game, or that of a recording studio. It could even be a folk music group from Vancouver, or the name of a celtic rock group from Scotland. It could also represent some characters from a novel… but most likely, it could be a name that they have given themselves, the squatters who live in the disused buildings around the Old Port of Montreal.

P.S. Last night I watched a taping of the Montreal Comedy Festival – gala something-or-other?!

  • Johanne Brunet replied

Must have been a show from a previous edition of the Just For Laughs Festival one of the highlights of the summer season in Montreal.

Hi Johanne! I like this – can I form a group and have this as my album cover?
    Nice texture on the wall!

Great shot, simple graffiti but it is so enhanced overall by the texturized exposed brick! It would make an awesome cover for a musical group!

  • Johanne Brunet replied

Thank you Joanne! There are groups called like that, so perhaps I should contact their agents and sell them the image! One never knows… ;-)

Really strong composition!! Love the way the bare plaster forms a diagonal.
Am I seeing the start of a series? Smog and now The Rogues?

  • Johanne Brunet replied

LOL! I would love to say that I have enough stuff for a series, but unfortunately, it was only a short walk and the other shots that I have are nice but not as interesting, IMO. Well, perhaps one or two more…

Thank you for your nice comment! :-)

Excellent work sister! I really like the flat texture of the cement mixed with the texture of the bricks. Great impact for my eyes !

  • Johanne Brunet replied

Well, your eyes would have made the happy dance over there, that’s for sure! LOL! We’ll have to go back together some time. Thanks for the compliment! :-)

Love the composition of the cracked render which has fallen off exposing wonderfully textured bricks. Excellent shot. Including the graffiti

  • Johanne Brunet replied

Thank you Celia! I was really thrilled when I saw that wall with the graffiti, and my husband was calling me away to look at the skills of a skateboarder. He just had to wait! ;-)
