Romance and City Lights
Two things that go perfectly well together, don’t you think?
This is one of my favourite places in my hometown. It’s a park alongside the St. Lawrence river with a great view on downtown Montreal, Quebec (Canada) on the other side.

Thank you Monika, I’m glad you like it! :-)
Carole Brunet
This picture is gorgous, just like the one in color.
Johanne Brunet replied
Thanks ma soeur! Both are nice, but the B$W gives it a different mood, don’t you think?
Vikram Franklin
I love this – the light is perfect!!
I love that there’s still some detail in the sky.
Johanne Brunet replied
Thank you Vikram! It was just past twilight, and the sky was getting darker, but not pitch black yet. That’s probably why we can still see the details.

Well..I am back i9n July chere Amie.. and defently will check this out!
A little nit point if I may ? The photo..POV.. sharpness its all there.. but , as I see, you are talking about love.. than this should be in colur! d’accord? la prochaine ??
Ciao and smile..
John
Johanne Brunet replied
I couldn’t agree more on the fact that should be in colour. In fact, it is a colour shot converted to B&W for a monochrome challenge in the Mood & Ambiance group. Click on the thumbnail to view the colour photo page:

PS , we where December 31 in the Biodome.. its always SO nice there.. also in the Summer the Botanic Gradens.. Last July; 11 photo friends and I also went to la Ville de Quebec ..
I love Quebec city.. and ile Orlean .. Also a day in Granby ZOO
Johanne Brunet replied
There are so many great photo opportunities here, in the Province of Quebec. When the kids were small, we used to visit the Biodôme every year on a Sunday too cold to play outside. Great souvenirs!

This is beautiful Johanne. What a lovely night shot! I think it works beautifully in b&w!
Johanne Brunet replied
Thank you Ursula! I was looking at my Overview page this morning, and it struck me sa very strange to see all those B&Ws, instead of my usual array of bright colours! :-)
Ursula Rodgers
lol! But sometimes you’ve got to do something different :) I just spotted the colour version in one of your replies, and that’s a stunner too!
Johanne Brunet replied
Thank you , dear! :-)

Joanne Bradley
Well I have to say it works equally well in b & w. The tones are lovely and the capture of light is great!
Johanne Brunet replied
Thank you Joanne! Every time I go to that park, I take new pictures of that gazebo. I have them in all seasons, except the spring (because I started photography in late April of last year), photos in the rain, in the fog, in the snow, photos at noon, at sunset, at night, photos with or without people, photos from the front, from behind, etc.
We could almost think that it is another of the great wonders of the world1 LOL!
Paul Wilkin
Nice composition, great lighting and works well in both colour and b/w. I prefer the b/w but I think that’s just subjective. The lack of colour puts the emphasis on shape and lighting, and there is plenty of interest including the leaves, the cloud formations and the distant lights. x
Johanne Brunet replied
Thank you Paul! I really like the B&W too. In fact, I growing rather fond of B&W photography! :-)
Tenee Attoh
