Great picture, definitely a callendar type photo: “Mister December” :)

  • Johanne Brunet replied

Oh boy! He will certainly be pleased with this comment; I hope it won’t go to his head though… Thank you so much!

Vraiment capoté! J’adore !!!! Tès beau bonhomme ton garçon ( mon filleul)!

  • Johanne Brunet replied

  • Johanne Brunet replied

Thank you Carole! He just read all the comments, and he thought it was really funny!

Hmmm….now how do I say this without sounding creepy….Well, your son is a very handsome young man who photographs well (hope that is okay), and I agree with Monika about him making a good Mr. December (hope I didn’t just blow the creepy thing!). This is a really cool photo, and what a great sport he is. Nicely done Johanne (and Mr. December)!

  • Johanne Brunet replied

LOL!!! Shelly, you’re cracking me up! You don’t need to be so delicate in your wording, my dear friend, I know exactly what you mean!

He’s 17, a very young man, but almost an adult, and while he’s very sweet and level headed, he can be a bit of a show off too.

He loves working out and enjoys hard physical labour. He’s not camera shy (remember the Forever Rebel series) and will wear a kilt at school without a second thought (looks great in it too!) :-)

So I think that being called a Mister December will please him quite a lot… ;-)

LOL – if his mates get hold of this shot ….!

He does photograph very well and the shot has been set up perfectly!

  • Johanne Brunet replied

Thank you Vikram! In fact his mates have already seen it, and there are quite a few comments on his facebook already. Strangely enough, the girls have not said anything yet, they are letting the guys do their guys’ thing. I would be very curious to know what the girls have to say… ;-)

  • Johanne Brunet replied

Sure, he signed it in blood 17 years ago! ;-)

Couldn’t resist commenting on this one! He sure is a cute Santa’s helper! Wonderful masculine portrait of Christmas in a whimsical manner!

Thank you Joanne! He certainly appreciates the comments here because they are not as nice on his Facebook! His friends are a little more… let’s say ah… critic about his decision to play the Santa’s helper! LOL!

    Bradley Shawn ...

I just don’t know what to say. My wife thinks he is very handsome. I think it is a great shot technically but I won’t venture ANY further than that. (You understand of course) hehe – i think you should submit it to your local paper for a feature on Christmas prep. See what he thinks. It is a great seasonal shot. Do you have a studio set up?

  • Johanne Brunet

    Johanne Brunet

Thank you Shawn! I understand your point of view, don’t worry! LOL! In fact, Jo’s friends have the same kind of aah… reservations, but being teenagers, their comments tend to lean on the bawdy side.

You would laugh your head off seeing my studio arrangements. This was shot in the front hall, with a white painter’s sheet pinned over the dining room door. Natural light was coming from the windows and glass door on the left hand side of the photo, and the only other lights were the ones he was wearing. Here is the EXIF info:

    Focal length 55mm
    ISO-100
    Aperture f/8
    Shutter ½ sec.
    No flash fired
    Shot in aperture priority

    Nikon D60
    AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f3.5-5.6G VR

Post-treatment in Photoshop included levels, curves, a little sharpening and smoothing out the wrinkles from the white background.

The local newspaper seems like a good idea, but seeing the reaction to this photo from his Facebook friends, I have some reservations… I’ll talk to him and see…

Hey Johanne, I can’t believe that I beat Mr. December in the high-key challenge – I’m sorry, I was convinced he would come out top! Congratulations on coming second though!

  • Johanne Brunet replied

Well, well! I was at my son’s hockey practice and I just sat down after a quick meal to see the results… and your post.

As I see it, George, it’s only natural that the profound original meaning of Christmas should come first, and be followed by a good wicked party… LOL!!! Congratulations for on your 1rst place George!

We won that round, didn’t we? :-)
