This photograph was taken in my garden (Tasmania, Australia)

I liked the way it took me a long time to notice this large group of small mushrooms as they looked the same color as the leaves on the ground. When I did notice them, my first thought was that there was an army of mushrooms outside!

Photography is my ‘passion’. I studied it in years 11 and 12, where I learned how to processes films in the dark room. Since then, my photography was restricted to digital compacts until I was able to afford an DSLR in 2010.

Until recently I had been doing a PhD in Agricultural Science at the University of Tasmania. I have recently decided that a career in science is not going to make me happy, so I am now studying graphic design.

Love the black/white treatment. Often with this family of mushrooms, they’re only seen for a few hours………so you got lucky this day!
