This photograph was taken at the Royal Derwent, which is an abandoned asylum in New Norfolk, Tasmania, Australia.

The building in the background is a ward that is going to be demolished to make way for development.

Photography is my ‘passion’. I studied it in years 11 and 12, where I learned how to processes films in the dark room. Since then, my photography was restricted to digital compacts until I was able to afford an DSLR in 2010.

Until recently I had been doing a PhD in Agricultural Science at the University of Tasmania. I have recently decided that a career in science is not going to make me happy, so I am now studying graphic design.

I love how you have placed the model, looking out, as though she’s longing for someone or something.. like hope is fading for her has autumn is coming to an end and soon the leaves will fall. Beautiful tones and colours. Choice!

  • Thanks Hails! :) We will have to take you there sometime before these buildings are gone…
