Reflection by Jocelyn Parry-Jones

I took this photograph in on the coast in Northern Germany. I liked the way the man seemed to be in a place of thought. In my mind I imagined that he would come to this bench often to relax and think about life.

Camera: Fugi Finepix Z10 (Compact Digital)
Exposure: 1/200
F-Stop: 3/8
ISO: 100

Post processing: Sharpening in CS3, followed by a reduction in saturation and the application of a sepia filter.

Photography is my ‘passion’. I studied it in years 11 and 12, where I learned how to processes films in the dark room. Since then, my photography was restricted to digital compacts until I was able to afford an DSLR in 2010.

Until recently I had been doing a PhD in Agricultural Science at the University of Tasmania. I have recently decided that a career in science is not going to make me happy, so I am now studying graphic design.

Wonderful observation of life. As you say, I’m sure the bench has great meaning for him – or it brings back memories.

Please consider submitting this image to Men Appreciation (men = 18 years +). It would be a great addition to the portrait of men that we are assembling. Thanks, Tom
